In a recent broadcast, ABC News announced that the Democratic Party is projected to win enough seats to retake control of the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm elections.

The projection was made during a segment on ABC News, where the network said that the party “has the numbers they need” to reach the 218-seat threshold required for a majority.

Analysts note that in the 2018 elections Democrats held 198 seats, and current modeling suggests a shift that could bring them over the majority mark.
